Happy Monday and Happy July! I hope everyone had a great Independence Day weekend. Mine certainly did not go as planned. Especially on July 4th! I ended up getting my hair straightened so that I could get a protein treatment, and my ends trimmed, in preparation for getting Senegalese twists in a couple of weeks. I knew rain was in the forecast, but I figured there would just be a little summer sprinkle here or there, and it wouldn’t be that bad. I’ve never been more wrong in my life! On the way to the hair salon, the rain was just starting. And it started to get pretty heavy by the time I arrived. I began texting my friends to see if our day plans were still going to happen because of the rain. We decided that if the rain let up, we would continue as planned. By the time I left the salon, my hair was laid, the rain had stopped, and I was ready to get dressed for this little day party/cookout.
The original plan was to get to the event between 2pm and 3pm, but shout out to my friends who kept pushing back the meet up time, lol. So, of course by the time we actually park at the venue, it starts back up raining. We all had umbrellas, so we decided to go ahead and stand in the line, in the rain, since we had made it that far. As soon as we started to walk from the car to the venue, it starts POURING! Like cats and dogs were definitely coming down on us. My hair, my outfit, and my shoes, never stood a chance. Everyone in line was soaked, and we all figured we’d go on inside, since there wasn’t too much else we could do at that point. The actual event was pretty fun, but let’s just be honest, I would have rather stayed in and saved my hair.
I happened to see this romper in Forever21 a few weeks ago, I tried it on because I thought it was cute, but while I was in the fitting room mirror, I was like “Hmm, red, white, and blue, 4th of July outfit!”. I wasn’t even looking for one, but it was clearly meant to be, lol. I’m not sure if you can see them clearly in these pictures, but the print on the romper is mainly elephants, which I’ve been noticing on shorts, and tops, a lot lately. I added fringe accessories, gold, brown, and navy accessories, and gladiators, and my outfit was complete.
Since I didn’t get any pictures on July 4th, I staged a redo yesterday (#thingsbloggersdo). As for my hair, I didn’t want to put any more heat on it, so instead of flat ironing it, I just put it in about six bantu knots. When I took my hair down the next morning, the bantu knots came out pretty well, but fell a little during the photoshoot because of the wind. I got the great idea to ask my friend to snap a few pictures of me in my 4th of July outfit, and fortunately, he agreed. Thanks Lee!
