How To Style: Fall/Winter Poncho

Happy Friday! This week has flown on by, and it’s almost time for Thanksgiving! Whoop!

For this post, I decided to take on the fall/winter poncho. I had been eyeing a few different ones since it started getting cooler, and this one from H&M made the cut! I’ve also been kind of obsessed with olive this season, so I decided to pair this poncho with all olive and neutrals.

Ponchos are a quick and easy way to pull a look together in the fall and winter seasons. They will keep you warm and stylish at the same time.

When styling a poncho:

If the poncho is printed, wear a solid top underneath. If it is solid, wearing a printed top underneath is fine.

Depending on how cool it is outside, you can wear a tank top, short sleeved top, or long sleeved top underneath. Feel free to layer it up the cooler it gets!

A poncho can be dressed up or down. For a dressed up look, try pairing it with pants and heels. For a casual look, pair it with jeans and riding boots.

Depending on the look you’re going for, you can wear the poncho open front like a kimono, or closed and wrapped around you like a scarf (however some poncho designs won’t have as much versatility). Play around with how you want to wear it in the mirror before heading out. My photographer, Asmait, knew a thing or two about wrapping scarves, so I have to give her a little styling credit there!

Add accessories with your poncho like sunnies and a chic tote to complete your look.

*You may want to check the material of your poncho before purchasing and see if it sheds. I love this one, however it shed all over my clothes!

Since it’s the fall, and it’s not too cold yet, I wore my poncho with a tank top. When the weather starts to drop for the winter, I’ll swap the tank out for a long sleeved top.

This look is also a great look for your Thanksgiving activities, ie dinner, running errands, shopping, etc!

So, how do you feel about the fall/winter poncho, do you own one, or is it on your shopping list? Also, do you have any additional poncho styling questions that I didn’t cover? Let me know below!

Okay I love this look! The colors look really great together. I also hate clothes that shed everywhere, so thanks for mentioning that most people do not. Despite that though, it looks really cute!
