Holiday Party Oufit Inspiration: Wine Monochromatic Look

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving. I spent mine back at home with my family and it was great. Since I love everything about this time of the year, and I love a good holiday party, this post will showcase a holiday inspired look.

I had been eyeing deep plunging neckline bodysuits for a while, but always shyed away from them because I’m a *somewhat* conservative dresser, and I also wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. Then I happened to see this bodysuit for a really low price, and I decided to take the plunge! And I’m so glad that I did because I love it. It definitely makes for a sultry look without giving the people too much, lol.

I have been wanting a leather (or vegan leather if you will) skirt for a few years and hadn’t been able to find the right one until I happened upon this one in Macys. It is a little big in the waist, so it has has a little gap in the back, but fits perfectly everywhere else. The quality is great too. As I was thinking about what to wear with the skirt, I realized that the bodysuit was in the same color family as the skirt and figured I’d try a monochromatic look from top to bottom. The top and shoes are actually a wine/burgundy color in person, but in the photographs they look somewhat reddish (due to the bright sun and white background).

Wine/burgundy/cranberry are in right now, and I’m all the way here for it. The color (and variations of it) is just so pretty, and festive. Perfect for the holiday season! I also love how the color goes so well with the cold weather wardrobe staple, the camel coat.

A few tips when wearing the deep plunge trend:

Pair your deep plunging top with full coverage on the bottom, ie a knee length or midi skirt, or jeans or pants. Because the top is so low, you want to balance out how much skin you’re showing.

Pair a simpler necklace with the top versus a statement necklace. You want the neckline to be your statement, and you don’t want to distract too much from that.

Bodysuits with a deep plunging neckline are going to be more secure and have less of a chance of a wardrobe malfunction than a regular deep plunging shirt.

Even if your deep plunging top is a bodysuit, you may want to use a little doublesided fashion tape to make sure the top stays put.

If you’re thinking about wearing your deep plunging top to an event where you will be moving around a lot (i.e. a party), proceed with extreme caution (and definitely spring for the double stick fashion tape).

Make sure your top fits you really well and is not too big (I’m sure you can imagine all that could go wrong there).

I agree with you, double sided fashion tape is a must for any deep plunging neckline 🙂

This is so gorgeous! My husband would go crazy with joy if I had the courage to wear a top like that but I’m so flat chested. I’m nervous about wearing plunging neckline tops! LOL
