Style Inspiration: Formal Event

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and is off to a great start this week!

My fabulous friend Al (whose Dominican Republic bachelorette party that I posted about here) got married back in September, and the dress code for their wedding was formal. I took pictures in the dress that I wore the day after for an outfit post, but those pictures temporarily got lost in the land of iPhotos. Since it’s the holidays, and this dress is formal holiday party appropriate, I figured this would be the perfect time to post!

I loved the idea of a formal wedding, and I knew it would be beautiful, however I was a little stumped about what I should wear. I had been traveling for most of the summer, so I didn’t have time to really look for a dress until about a week or two before the wedding (procrastination is my middle name). I think it’s a given that I’m obsessed with midi dresses, so I was looking for the dressiest midi dress I could find that would be appropriate for a formal wedding. Judging from how late I waited to start looking for a dress, you can probably guess that the formal midi dress mission was a fail! I definitely tried on a lot of misses before I realized that floor length gown was the way to go. After searching Macy’s and Nordstrom’s at one mall, with no luck, I went to the Macy’s at a mall that was a little further away, and tried on this winner!

I loved the champagne and black colors, the lace, and the peek – a- boo detailing right above my waist. The dress was also very easy to accessorize with black and gold chandelier earrings, a gold bracelet and rings, nude strappy sandals, and a black and gold clutch (with I forgot to take pictures with).

The wedding was indeed beautiful, Al was gorgeous, and my girls and I all felt fab in our floor length gowns! 🙂

That is a very fancy dress, Kasi! I think that is a silhouette that will look good on lots of shapes. I wish I had somewhere to go that required a formal dress!

A formal wedding sounds lovely. I love that dress. I have been looking for something similar for a while now. Hopefully, I will find one in my size soon. Thanks for sharing your outfit!
