Happy Friday! Over the past weekend, I had the pleasure of spending some time with my blogger friend, Marisol. We hung out in Georgetown (DC), taking in the wintertime sights and of course taking pictures! It started off not too cold, but then the coldness and the wind met us at the door! Fortunately we had our jackets and other cold weather accessories to keep us (somewhat) warm.
We decided to be a little more dressed up for this look (because we both love to get jazzy)! I went with a gray sweater dress that I knew would look good with my black OTK boots. It was a little big at the top, so to make it a little more fitted, and to help minimize the infamous gap in between the back of my waist and bottom, I decided to belt it, and the belt actually complimented the dress really well. If you experience the “waist gap” problem, belting your dresses/skirts is major key (I’ve been waiting to use that DJ Khaled reference, ha!).
Marisol’s outfit is the perfect example of how to transition a summer dress into the fall/winter. She went with a dress that she actually wore over the summer, and she successfully transitioned it into winter by adding layers, and knee-high boots. So ladies, if you ever have any “I have nothing to wear!” moments this season, pull something out of your closet from the spring or summer, add layers, and you’ll feel brand new! 😉
Normally, when I’m trying to be cute but casual during the winter season, I only wear flat riding boots. But since Marisol wanted us to wear “sporty chic” looks for our second outfit pictures, I decided to pull out my old faithful Chuck Taylors for the occasion. Check out our sporty chic looks here, as well as all of Marisol’s other fabulous looks over on her blog! Be sure to leave a comment while you’ll there, and keep up with her on social media! Thanks for reading! So do you currently use the waist belt trick to cinch in your dresses, or do you utilize Marisol’s way of maximizing her wardrobe by adding layers to spring/summer dresses during fall/winter? Let me know below!
