Belted + Booted

Happy February! January was a great month, and with celebrating Black History Month, and Valentine’s Day, I already know February will be a great month as well. On a not so great note, the groundhog saw his shadow yesterday, which means we will have six more weeks of winter. Sigh. The good news is, there is still plenty of time to get your fly winter fashion in!

In the wintertime, since most people will see your coat first, you want to make sure that it is just as cute as the rest of your outfit (as mentioned in my previous winter coats post). For this outfit post, I was going for a sleek, warm, look. So I wore this belted forest green mixed media military coat that I got about two years ago, my favorite leather gloves that I’ve had for years, and this new black scarf that I just recently purchased. If you’re looking for a scarf that locks in heat, definitely go with this one! It’s so simple, and I love it. I kept the sleek look going with black waxed jeans, black over the knee boots, my “vintage Wang” purse as my best friend calls it (really it’s like a year old Philip Lim bag for Target, lol) and my signature gold hoops. I had a sweater on underneath the coat, and of course I didn’t know a little of it was peeking out of my coat until I reviewed the pictures on my computer! :-/

As you may or may not have noticed, I’m rocking a slightly new do! I generally wear my hair in some sort of twist out/wash and go situation, but I wanted to switch it up for a bit. I plan on doing a few mini tutorials/reviews on natural hair care and styles in the future, so this hair style is a little preview of what’s to come!

So, are you guys ready for winter to be over as well, or are you loving this cold weather? Let me know below!

This look really works! I usually hesitate with belted coats because of the layering underneath. I sometime believe that a belt may give a false illusion of bulky. But not this look. I think the army green is a flattering color for the winter and chic with the belt included. Oh and you KILLED the whole look with the boots. I just died! Kasi, knows well! LOL

Love this outfit! Didn’t even notice your sweater was showing until you mentioned it, lol. As a South Floridian I get jealous of you winter fashionistas and your fantastic cold weather outfits. #BLMGirl

I love the all black look very cute and looks comfy. I haven’t tried a belted coat but this one is very cute. In New York, it gets so cold that I stick to longer jackets.
