Happy Friday!!! Today on the blog, I’m switching it up with a more casual look from SheIn. I love dressing up, but sometimes I like to be casual and comfy (but still cute, of course).
I recently heard a good message about overcoming obstacles, so I thought I’d share that in this post.

Last Sunday I was snowed in, so I decided to check out one of Elevation church’s online sermons. Pastor Michael Todd was guest speaking on one of them, and it was called “Marked by God”. It was a really good word, and the scriptures he focused on came from 1 Samuel 16, which is the story of David. Pastor Todd’s point was that no matter what you’re going through right now, no matter the trial, or denial, you’re marked by God. It really spoke to me because honey, I am going through an ordeal with the insurance company of a driver who hit my car a while ago, and I needed the encouragement! I know God will work it out for my good in the end, and I’ll have a testimony that will be encouraging to others. But at the moment, it’s been a frustrating process, to say the least.
It would take too long for me to recap the whole sermon, so I’ll just highlight one of the many great points that were made. “Obstacles and opportunities are almost the same depending on who’s on your side”. So in the story of David, the Israelite army was being held back from further battle with the Philistines, because Goliath the giant was at the battle line intimidating and taunting them. He appeared to be far larger, stronger, and more skilled than the Israelite soldiers were, so they were scared to advance any further. Meanwhile, David had previously slayed a bear, and a lion, while protecting his sheep, so God had already prepared him to take on Goliath. Whereas others looked at Goliath as an obstacle and stepped back, he look at him as an opportunity, and stepped up. And in doing so, everyone witnessed this great act from a seemingly regular person, and God got the glory for it. Again, this spoke to me, because it’s such a great perspective to have the next time one is faced with an obstacle. Pastor Todd also said that “Obstacles aren’t placed in your life to take you out, they are placed there to elevate you”. So the next time you are faced with an obstacle, I encourage you to look at it as an opportunity instead, and I’m going to try to do the same!

Cute and casual. I have a pair of those pants but mine is jogging pants and I just wore them yesterday with a gold shirt.
Girl your style is just 2 cute ! Obstacles are simply a opportunity to overcome. Mediatation helps me focus on a plan and a glass of Chardonnay never hurts either !
I love the camouflage pants! I have about 4 pair and I can dress them up or down. Now I gotta buy another pair that I don’t need
I love that jacket. I’m such a sucker for Colorblock pieces. And the quote: “Obstacles and opportunities are almost the same depending on who’s on your side” really stuck out to me!
I really love this jacket it looks so stunning and unique. You look beautiful.
This is a great lesson, one I need to take note of for sure. I’m feeling this look, I’m more of a casual girl so these type of looks are most appealing to me.

Wow…Love this! I watched that sermon! It spoke to me too. I have my 7 points written down to remind me when I’m having my moments and even when I’m not. Love this look, so cute and comfortable! My kind of fit.
This is such a cute lounge outfit. The message you shared in he post is also very important too.
You’re inspiring me to make my casual looks a lot more cute & fun. Love the color in the jacket.
Yes for being comfy yet chic! I’m just waiting for the weather to allow me to get out of the parka and boots.
Two of my faves, Furtick and Todd! Let me go and YouTube that sermon. 1 Samuel 16 is legitimately my favorite passage in the Bible. In reality, we pray for the elevation opportunity and then when it comes, we complain. I have committed to not complaining about what I pray for. Thanks for sharing!
You even know how to style yourself laid back! Super fresh!
