Global Citizen Earth Day Festival 2015

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is enjoying their last bit of down time before heading back into work tomorrow. Yesterday, my friends and I attended the FREE Global Citizen Earth Day festival on the National Mall, and let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint! Free, amazing, concerts like this are why I love living in DC!

So, let me set the scene for everyone who didn’t attend. It was a sunny 81, degrees outside. Since I’m still in 60-70 degree spring weather mode, I figured my long-sleeved romper would be fine, since my legs would be out. It ended up being a little too warm for those sleeves, but thankfully it got breezy later, so it was all good. Most people had on shorts, and the fashion was overall very music festival chic (read: Coachella, barely). I feel like sunny, spring days like this are the perfect motivation to get your fitness game together before summer gets here!

The concert was hosted by Soledad O’Brien, and Will.I.Am.  The purpose was to raise awareness of environmental issues, poverty, and movements to combat these issues.  The line-up involved No Doubt, Usher (w/a special guest performance from Common), Fall Out Boy, Mary J Blige, Train, and My Morning Jacket. I was mainly there for my two baes, Usher, and Common. We arrived when Mary J. Blige was performing, so I’m not completely sure of the order, however I know Usher and Common performed second to last, and No Doubt closed the show, lol. Usher and Common performed “Glory” together, and it was amazing. Usher also performed “Yeah”, and “OMG”, while Common performed “The Light”. You couldn’t tell me nothing during those performances y’all. No Doubt performed their hits, and had my friends and I feeling like we were back in middle/high school! Hey baby, hey baby, hey!

We were too far away for me to really get pictures of the performers, but here are the few pics that I snapped of my crew. Shout out to Andy who came later and didn’t make the pics.

Hey! I was there too! It was a really awesome event. I didn’t expect to stay the whole time but I couldn’t bring myself to leave before No Doubt performed and I’m glad I stayed. Meanwhile, y’all cute and stuff LOL

Get outta here!! I have this same outfit! I just went out to buy a statement necklace to go with it. I was planning on giving it a try this weekend. We’ll see how the weather turns out though :-/

Also, I didn’t know anything about this concert until I started seeing all the posts on IG…and here I thought I had my ear to the streets! I’ve gotta do better.

Oh, great minds think a like!! Yes. hopefully the weather turns out nicer than expected! I had been stalking the weather for the concert, and at first it was going to be chillier, and you see how nice it was, so keep hope a live, lol! 🙂

Lol yeah, I only heard about it because my friend heard about it, so looks like I need to do better as well!

Cute pics of the crew. I missed Usher and Commin but No Doubt was so fun. This concert with a message was a hit for DC for sure.

First of all, how fabulously beautiful are you and your friends! DC seems like a great city, there is always something to do. I’ll be up there next weekend, I have to check your blog for suggestions!
